A Merseyside-based crane firm has become the latest in the lifting industry to adopt CoreRFID’s market-leading software.
New-Tonne Crane and Engineering is replacing its existing system with CheckedOK in a move that will help it save time for engineers and speed up client reporting.
New-Tonne designs and manufactures everything from simple slings and chains to overhead, goliath and gantry cranes, as well as carrying out inspections and repairs.
Based in Newton-le-Willows, the company serves clients including Leyland Trucks, Pilkington Glass and WFEL and has supplied cranes to sites throughout the UK, including the Olympia exhibition centre, Whiteley’s department store in Bloomsbury, London and Hunterston Power Station in Scotland.
New-Tonne, which employs a team of 12, is owned by Graham Lindley and Dave Sargeant, who between them have over 60 years’ experience in the industry. They will initially adopt the main CheckedOK inspection module (ROTE) before extending the system to cover breakdowns and repairs, risk assessments and method statements.
Graham explains: “CheckedOK will make it easier and faster for clients to access reports and by removing paperwork, will also save time for engineers and office staff. That means that as we get busier, the engineers have capacity to carry out more jobs while the office staff can concentrate on getting the invoices done.
“When dealing with paperwork, it is very easy to get things wrong. Recording information in digital format on site is not only quicker, it makes it less likely for errors to occur and the whole system means there is less chance of inspections and other things being missed.
“Our existing software, which was based around stock control, was too complex and not right for our needs. We wanted to replace it with a more effective system. We liked CheckedOK and were also reassured because so many others in the industry are using it successfully.”
Munzi Ali of CoreRFID said the company had recently seen a four-fold increase in orders for CheckedOK. “We are delighted to welcome New-Tonne to our growing client list. Like many of the companies now adopting CheckedOK, they already had legacy software in place but wanted to replace it with a system better suited to their needs.
“CheckedOK is specially designed for the lifting industry and not only helps comply with rules such as LOLER and PUWER, but also incorporates functions such as costing and invoicing to provide a complete management solution. Investing in automation makes perfect sense in the current climate and companies can reap the benefits in a very short space of time.”
